At Sheffield Landfill, keeping our community and our workers safe is the most important thing we do.

Protects Groundwater: Sheffield Landfill has been monitoring groundwater and collecting data for more than 25 years to ensure groundwater near the Landfill is safe and unaffected by previous landfill operations.
Monitored Continuously: Sophisticated technology, equipment and trained personnel allow us to monitor groundwater regularly to verify its safety and that the measures we have taken continue to protect human health and the environment.
Inspected Regularly: A certified third-party conducts annual inspections of the groundwater monitoring wells and post-closure plan. In addition, we work closely with the US EPA and the Illinois EPA to ensure we are compliant with our agreed Long-Term Stewardship Program (LTSP) at the facility.
